4. Video of what to do after images are made.

For those who like to read here's some more detail. I used fireworks from adobe.com for this. It cost quite a bit. But it can do alot more also.

Creating png files from a main image
To process each item it usually takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the difficulty of the shape.
If you want your pictures processed for you check hire editor when viewing the images. Add your main image and data and click upload. When your done uploading all your images open the shopping cart. There the editing fees are all totaled and you can pay for the editing fees.

What do I need to do make my own png images?
The first thing you need is a main image that is about double the size of the item and good quality.
The items in the image must be layed flat and placed as you want it to appear on the canvas.
This picture from the site beadoroma.com
If you're using someone else's pictures, make sure they are not copyrighted or that you have permission.

You also need is the image graph that will help you size the item to fit on the project board.

Download Graph (click download, right click on the image, copy, and save)

Use any image program that will allow you to draw around the item and copy it. I put a link to gimp.org at the top of this page. GIMP is free.
After you have add an image by clicking the main image folder icon you can click the pencil to open the image in your default image program.
  • If you image editor savy there are many ways to achieve the same results. So long as your output is a scaled image with a transparent background. The instructions below are for beginners at editing images. These instructions create png32 images with transparent backgrounds and NO edges of blank space around each image.
  • Make a folder to put your set of images in. Name it after the item name.
  • Save your original image as main.jpg in that folder
  • From the image panel open the main image by clicking the open folder above the main image box.
  • The image loads. Shrink it to a desirable size with the magnifying glass.
  • Click the pencil next to the thumb box.
  • A little rectangle appears over the main image. Drag the rectangle to a position that captures your desired content.
  • Click the check mark to make the image. You can do this as many times as you like.
  • Click the pencil by the large image. This opens it in your default editor. To set your default editor open the file explorer. Go to Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types. Browse to jpg and click open with. Then select your preferred application to edit jpg images.
  • If your editing program has the feather option set it to 1 or 2 px. This will take away the jagged edges of copied areas.
  • Use the marquee tool to draw around each item. Then copy it and paste to the graph image
  • After all the items are pasted into the graph select all of them and resize together as shown.

  • Be sure to shrink or enlarge it proportionately using the graph lines for guides.
(Use the shift key while dragging in most programs to keep ratio)
  • If the item is beads be sure the bead holes go from left to right.
  • After all the items are sized do this for each item:
          1. Copy the image.
          2. For each bead you will select file new.
          3. Paste the feathered image into the new file.
          4. Select that the background of the new file be transparent.
          5. Most image programs will size the new file to fit what you have copied.
But if your's doesn't you will need to crop it so the bead fits perfectly into the new file.

Save 3 or 4 beads (as many as you want), each to it's own file in png (32) format as B_0.png, B_1.png, B_2.png, etc.
Putting the number in the name will make it easy to open the whole set of images when adding them.

You're ready to upload images. The single bead images with the transparent background are called your library images.

If this is a first image you will be prompted to create a store to put the images in. Without a store name the images are not viewable. So even if you don't plan on selling anything you still need a store name. Open the admin panel from Items -> Add Item if your creating a new item. Or if you have already created the item and just need to add images go to Items -> Browse Items. This opens the admin panel. When the panel for adding data is viewed click the right eye icon to open the panel for images. Click the open folder for each type of image and browse to the images you have made to add them.

  • In the admin panel, choose Add Item.
Select a category from the list box that best describes your item.
Then type in the name of the item and select continue.
This opens a panel where you add the price and other details.
There are browse buttons that correspond to each type of image you have made.
         Browse and open each image.
  • When it's added it is only viewable in your computer.
    • You will see a place where you can position the image according to the bead holes.
This allows the bead to pull from where the string entry points are.
These are the points pulling points. Guides are the lines with the green ball handles.
    • Center the the bead holes between the center vertical line
    • Drag the guides on the left and right to the points where the hole on the bead exits.
Drag the guides on top and bottom to the top edge and bottom edge of the image.
    • If you have a bead that has holes that are in the center there is no need for positioning.
  • Once an item is on the board you need to check the data for correctness.
  • Make sure the image is positioned correctly.
  • If you want to upload the item to the web click the upload button.
  • If the data is incorrect or something changes you can change it anytime by editing the item and uploading again.
  • If the item is out of stock or you don't want to sell it any more click the inactivate button.
